We are delighted that your delegation considering registering for SOMA XLVII. One defining feature of the conference for students is the opportunity to hear from the inspirations and stories of our guest speakers. 

This year, SOMA is enriching that experience by offering a lunch meet & greet for 10 delegates with our guest speaker, or the Minister of Foreign Affairs. More information is available at the bottom of this page.

 

Registration for SOMA XLVII | Now Open

School Registration and Delegate applications are now open to all delegations. The standard delegate fee is $110 with a discounted $90 available for Early Bird Registration. As SOMA is moving to an online registration process, both a school registration form, completed by a staff advisor, as well as a delegate application for each delegate nominated, must be submitted. Each delegate should only submit one application. If any changes need to be made after the submission, please send an email to soma@utschools.ca with your name and the change you would like to be made. After your school registration you will receive a confirmation email for your delegation's registration fees. Early Bird Registration (Now Closed)

Accessibility, diversity and equity are among our core values at SOMA. We have heard from some schools who will be observing a faith day on Friday 26th April, so would be unable to attend the full conference this year. Fortunately, due to the popularity of Early Bird registration, it may be possible for us to accommodate delegations on a case by case basis. If your school is unable to attend the conference on Friday, but would still like to participate on Wednesday and Thursday, please contact Laura Ross (Staff Supervisor) laura.ross@utschools.ca

Registration Instructions for Staff Supervisors and Parents of Independent Delegates

1. Gather all necessary information and documents including:

  • Names of all intended delegates.

  • Consent Forms for all Delegates (in a single scanned PDF format for upload).

  • Your delegation’s committee preferences.

2. Verify if you are able to send a cheque to the following address (made out to University of Toronto Schools) within 14 days of registration.

3. Complete the online registration form.

4. Upload the completed and scanned Parental Consent Form as a ‘pdf’ file. These may be mailed with payment if you are unable to scan/compile one document.

5.  Check all boxes to acknowledge that you have understood your responsibilities and liabilities.

6. Submit your registration form and receive confirmation by email. This will act as your invoice for processing payment through your business office.

Once you have received confirmation of your registration, the appropriate number of delegate spaces will be reserved for your school.  To help us assign countries and roles within committees, please ensure all your delegates complete the Delegate Application form. The staff supervisor will receive a follow-up email with country assignments once registration closes.  


SOMA XLVII Scholarship

SOMA is once again delighted to offer 10 delegates a fully paid scholarship to our forty-seventh annual conference. This new scholarship is available for both first time attendees in Model United Nations, and previous delegates, who demonstrate a passionate involvement in their communities or in world issues, but may not be able to afford the full price of registration. 

We ask delegates applying to the SOMA XLVII Scholarship to first apply regularly with their delegations, to ensure that a SOMA committee and country will be reserved for the delegate. The deadline for scholarship applications will be the same as the standard registration deadline, with acceptances released shortly after. If a full payment upfront is not financially possible for the applicant, please email soma@utschools.ca.


SOMA XLVII | Refund Policy

Delegate fees paid to SOMA are fully reimbursable until February 26, 2019 and 50% reimbursable until March 26, 2019. These deadlines are firm. All cancellations made after March 26, 2019 are non-refundable. For other inquiries regarding our refund policy, please send an email to soma@utschools.ca.
